holiday mulled wine

Holidays are here and it's time to warm up with a spiced seasonal mug of mulled wine! Vibrant spices and smooth taste, this is easy and perfect for a winter holiday!
What to get:
  • 1 bottle red wine (cabernet preferred)
  • 4 T mulling spice mix (in muslin bak or wrapped cheesecloth)
  • 3 T blackberry brandy
  • cinnamon sticks for garnish
What to do:
  1. in a large pot on stove, add bottle of red wine, simmering on lowest setting.
  2. Add pouch or wrapped cheesecloth of mulling spices, and steep on low for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally and avoiding any boil.
  3. Add brandy and continue to simmer for another 15-25 minutes (again avoiding a boil).
  4. Cool slightly and serve in mugs warm with a cinnamon stick.
  5. Store leftover mulled wine in sealed bottle with cork or airtight container for up to a week or longer in the fridge.
  6. Reheat leftovers slowly on stove.
Notes:
this is very easy and best served warm, never bring to a boil! Perfect for parties and gifts!
