Seeing as it is the Memorial holiday weekend, with bright sunshine, good friends and festivities, there is a lot to be thankful for. I decided to construct a patriotic, summer-inspired libation appropriate for sunny gathering, and honoring those who have served & do serve our country. It is because of them, we are even able to enjoy this day. I decided a simple, sparkling red, white and blue cocktail was just the ticket! And so we have a Champagne cocktail with fresh cherries, white raspberries & blueberries, all with a touch of blackberry brandy.

It really was refreshing, so I think you too might enjoy one at the end of a hot afternoon. You’ll only need a few fresh ingredients, so it’s time to score the sweet picks next week at your local farmers market. Ripe cherries? Let’s do this…
Despite being undoubtedly refreshing, this one is ridiculously easy, and holidays just shouldn’t be stressful…
Refreshing summertime Champagne cocktail with fresh, seasonal fruits! Perfect for a 3-Day weekend kicking-off summer, and patriotic in honor of those who serve our country.
What to get...
- 1 bottle dry Champagne, or sparkling wine, chilled ( we use about 4 oz)
- 1 ounce Blackberry brandy
- 2 ounces sparkling citrus water, or plain is fine
- fresh ripe cherries, halved and pitted
- fresh blueberries
- fresh white raspberries
- ice
What to do...
- In festive cocktail glasses combine Champagne, sparkling water, blackberry brandy & couple of ice cubes.
- Add in some of each fruit, and garnish with skewer with a cherry, raspberry & mint leaf.
- Drink.
- See, I told you it was easy!
Notes
I prefer a non-sweet Champagne, but if you a have a cocktail sweet tooth, then you can use a less dry variety (like a brut)...though the addition of the blackberry brandy and the fruit will sweeten the deal a bit more anyhow.
In addition to those who serve, I am honoring the loving memory of a dear friend who passed away 5 years ago today. I know he would have loved one of these at the beach alongside me. This one is for you EK!
I hope your 3-Day weekend was packed full of good times, amongst great people. Cheers!

Good God, this looks delicious! I would drink this now despite the fact that it’s 8:32am.
HA! Thanks! Well, at least you can rationalize it since there’s fruit. Just one angle :)
