Red, White & Bubbly

Seeing as it is the Memorial holiday weekend, with bright sunshine, good friends and festivities, there is a lot to be thankful for. I decided to construct a patriotic, summer-inspired libation appropriate for sunny gathering, and honoring those who have served & do serve our country. It is because of them, we are even able…

Good God, this looks delicious! I would drink this now despite the fact that it’s 8:32am.

HA! Thanks! Well, at least you can rationalize it since there’s fruit. Just one angle :)

summer dressed

Farewell Spring, because I am ready for summer and so is my salad. We’re going to call-on warm weather ingredients like fresh, farmer’s market strawberries, spinach, sweet corn, cucumbers and beets for one perfect bowl of salad goodness. We’ll dress to the occasion with a homemade poppyseed balsamic dressing. Who wants to slave over the…

Summer is really here…It is all about light, fun and easy recipes. Everyone’s busy with a sunny day picnic, a trip to the beach. Gee! I have to make sure the recipes I have are all summer-y. This would be a great addition. Thanks!

Danielle

So long potatoes. And our pig? A center-cut, extra lean, pork tenderloin. We will slice into medallions, marinate, sear and top onto balsamic-wilted spinach & our roasted cauli-carrot smoked…

An Orange Crush

…that’s what my cookies have. Fresh, sweet orange steps-up for a pairing with coconut, vanilla & white chocolate for a delicate summer cookie, reminiscent of a Creamsicle.  I use to love the popsicle as a kid and decided to create a desert in its likeness. After a little tweaking, I think we hit the flavors, and…

What, no ice cream trucks in La Jolla? Gotta live in the hood to see any of those relics these days.

The nitty gritty

And that shall be dinner tonight. Gonna throw back to my Southern roots, to a dish I can’t help but love and eat too infrequently – grits. The hearty stone ground variety is what I choose to buy, giving more texture and corn taste. I love grits and especially favor them when combined with cheese….
