A little baking

Christmas is officially over, but the cookie baking continues, well for my niece & I.

She is officially a little baker and a very cute one in my opinion.  We decided to start the New Year off right, with some festive gingerbread men and women…just like her apron.

These cookies are timeless and fun for the minis. I have to say I like them too, and here is an easy recipe for classic gingerbread cut-out cookies. It’s never too early!

Gingerbread Men Cut-Out Cookies

You will need…

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2.5 cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3 tablespoons sugar

You will need to…

Preheat oven to 325°F.

In mixer beat brown sugar, shortening, molasses & the egg.

In another bowl sift and combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves & salt. Add dry mix to wet ingredients in mixer, slowly.

Once combined, chill dough for about 20 min. Then roll-out on board for shape cookies, using gingerbread man cutter. Or, you can roll dough into rounded tablespoonfuls and roll in sugar to bake. Bake cookies at 325 degrees on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8-12 min. Cool right away on rack. Once cooled, decorate and eat…
